Springtime in Southeast Texas signals the start of the search for wildflowers and bluebonnets along main and county roads. Yes, they look beautiful on photographs, but due to their ephemeral nature, they demand a lot from photographers in terms of time spent scouting locations, driving 2 to 3 out of town, hurrying up due to changing light conditions, and sleeping a few hours a night!
In the case of this photograph, it was taken 1 1/2 hours away from my house in West Houston, a few miles east of Brenham. I started driving east towards Washington-on-the-Brazos State Park and I was fortunate to find this pretty stand of bluebonnets swaying gently in the breeze. This scene to me screams "Texas!" I hope you like it!
