The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is isolated and remote, and it sits on the Kaibab Plateau, at an average altitude of 8000 feet above sea level. It presents us with wonderful photographic opportunities from any of its scenic overlooks. In this case, this image was made from Cape Royal. I was photographing the sunset when I suddenly decided to look behind me, towards the San Francisco Peaks, and there you go! A beautiful rainbow appeared coming up right from the South Rim. The Sun's subtle light caressed the layered canyon wall, offering us its last gift before leaving for the day.
