Description
So this is the time of the year I've been waiting to photograph Downtown Houston and City Hall!
The Christmas tree is set up,
The lights are installed,
And everything becomes a long exposure wonderland at twilight time!
This is an architectural shot of the Houston City Hall at twilight. This historical landmark was built back in 1938-9 near Tranquility Park and in the shadow of enormous skyscrapers like the Wells Fargo and One Shell Plaza. Its art deco architecture was designed by Joseph Finger, an Austrian-born architect that migrated to the US as a child in 1905. During Christmas, it gets festooned with a timed play of neon lights along with the live oaks and the reflection pool.
I had been wanting to photograph this area for a long time now, but there had been some construction around the reflecting pool all summer long; not to worry, as I decided to exercise my patient and wait until Christmas time.
The tree lighting ceremony had taken place on Friday December 5th, but fearing the crowds and the parking situation, I decided to wait until Tuesday 9th. Thanks for looking. FAA watermark WILL NOT show on final printed artwork.
