Description
Let me tell you about the making of this photograph: The previous day I had set up the alarm at 3:00 AM (3:00 AM!) so I could make it to Mt. Rainier on time, which was 90 miles from where I was staying in Seattle. I figured that 2 hours would be enough to reach my final destination, which was Tipsoo Lake, a body of water located east of the Mountain. I didn't really know what I was going to encounter since I had never been there before, so ideally I would've liked to previously scout the location.
Other than getting pulled over by a cop on my way out of Seattle for having made a u-turn over some railroad tracks, there weren't major obstacles. The officer was nice enough and realized immediately that I was lost, so he let me go with a word of advice to be careful at higher elevations, since the pavement was wet.
Once on Highway 410 north of Enumclaw, I drove through stands of pine so thick and dense you couldn't see through, and as I was making my way higher and higher, I noticed this lenticular cloud hanging over Mt. Rainier. I knew it was only a matter of time until it would light on fire! Pulling over on the side of the road, I made the executive decision of capturing this vista first before heading up to Tipsoo Lake. I hope you enjoy this image! Thanks for looking.
Watermark WILL NOT appear on final product!
