Description
On a cool and crisp Texas fall morning I decided to leave Houston and head out on a flash road trip to Luckenbach, deep in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. I had driven by so many times on my way to Enchanted Rock, that I had vowed to stop and photograph the iconic post office and dance hall, immortalized by Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings in the song "Luckenbach, Texas", (Back to the Basics of Love.) (Not written by them, but by Chips Moman and Bobby Emmons.)
There's no much in the 9 + acres that form the community, -sandwiched between South Grape Creek and Snail Creek-, but the post office, which doubles as a souvenir and general store, the dance hall, historical landmarks and homesteads. Everything comes alive during weekend country music performances. It is then than visitors from the area, (Austin, San Antonio, and other cities) drop in to see the occasional Texas country star to enjoy music and the National beer of Texas, Shiner Bock. Thanks for looking. FAA watermark WILL NOT appear on final printed artwork.
