Description
Mission San Jose was founded in February of 1720, by Father Antonio Margil with permission from Marquis de San Miguel the Amayo, the governor of Coahuila and Texas at that moment.
It was built as a self sufficient fortress that served the Coahuiltecan Indians.
The church, which is still standing today, was built in 1768.
