Description
According to the National Park Service website, "Cape Royal provides a panorama up, down, and across the canyon. With seemingly unlimited vistas to the east and west, it is popular for both sunrise and sunset."
While monsoonal activity was taking a hold of the Kaibab Plateau for a good part of the day, (euphemism for "it was raining dogs and cats"), I was recovering from the lack of sleep at the North Rim campground. The relentless raindrops on my tent's rain cover and the perfect crisp 60-degree weather lulled me into a 3-hour long nap that got me ready for the drive out to Cape Royal, in a remote region of the North Rim.
By late afternoon the clouds had been swiped to the North of me and the Sun was caressing the multicolored cliffs. The air smelled of juniper and sage brush, and the experience of Solitude was unmatched. I saw this unnamed mountain and I seized this perfect opportunity to frame it with the high desert vegetation. Please enjoy! Thank you so much for looking!

The North rim of the Grand Canyon is so special. You have captured it beautifully.
