Description
Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church was originally built by the first Czech immigrants in Texas in 1877, and destroyed by a hurricane in 1909. Being part of the Painted Churches of Texas, there are no records showing who painted the interior originally, but by the 50's the paint had been whitewashed. In the 80's an area judge by the name of Ed Janeckas led the community in the renovation efforts, recalling what he had seen on the roof and walls as an altar boy!
This beautiful Painted Church is located in the small community of Dubina, TX, 83 miles west from my home in West Houston. I positioned the tripod/camera combo on the road and I took a 5-shot panoramic image. I love the azure skies and the wispy clouds. If you see closely, bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush dot the lawn the south side of the church. Thank you so much for looking. FAA watermark WILL NOT show on final printed image.
