Description
This is the first capture that I made upon my arrival to the Davis Mountains region of West Texas. After a few hours of monotonous driving along I-10, I took a detour south from Balmorhea on Highway 17. One of the things that strikes me the most is how fast the landscape and the vegetation change as soon as one steps foot on this mountainous territory. The creosote-dominated plains give way to rugged hills covered with pencil cholla cacti, sotol, yucca and juniper. The ominous clouds arrived a few hours before a winter storm, setting a precedent, and that precedent was "y'all better be ready for some cold weather."
