This is truly a beautiful site to behold, except for the fact that hundreds of men that fought during the Texas Revolution are buried underneath the Fannin Monument. In spite of the passage of time and of how things have come to be nowadays, it is a story written in blood that will not be forgotten.
During late March and early April my pilgrimage to capture the ephemeral Texas wildflowers begin. Starting the research on the Internet, I sit down and write down all the places I will visit, week by week for three weeks. Sometimes we are blessed with abundant Winter rains and lots of Spring sunshine, and we get colorful fields of Indian Paintbrush, Bluebonnets, and Phlox.
After “Remember the Alamo,” the Texas Revolution’s most potent battle cry was “Remember Goliad.” A charming community on the San Antonio River now sits where, in 1836, Mexican forces executed Col.
