This image was made at the place called "Horseshoe Bend", in Glen Canyon National Recreational area. It overlooks the meandering Colorado River 1000 ft. below. For those of you who have visited this enchanting place, the parking lot / trailhead is 3/4 mile on the side of US 89A. You would think that 3/4 mile is not a long distance, but the sandy trail winding through the sagebrush and mormon tea makes it a very demanding hike. As a photographer, you must allow extra time to arrive, well, at the perfect time.
The trick to photographing the Horseshoe Bend is to act as a seasoned photographer: The least thing in your mind should be photographing the actual "Horseshoe", the meandering Colorado River. It is a magnificent view to capture, no doubt, but don't let tunnel vision get in the way of another awe-inspiring capture. Thanks for looking.
