I present to you a section of the Talimena Scenic Byway, a highway that connects the town of Talihina, Oklahoma with Mena, Arkansas, in a 54-mile roller coaster ride that travels on ridges and descends into valleys, in a whimsical dance with solitude, stillness and tranquility.
As I was making my way East on the highway, I noticed this bend of the road that took me higher up in the mountains. With the windows down, I could smell the liberating scent of the forest amplified by the recent rains, and I had to stop to capture this moment. With the forest colors peaking on the first week of November 2013, I couldn't pass up this opportunity. I hope you like this offering, and I appreciate you taking the time for looking. Enjoy!
